Temple Teaching #2

The operation of the tabernacle and temple teaches us to ACCEPT and OBEY our God given tasks TODAY as HIS” TEMPLE of THE HOLY SPIRIT”.

The 24 Courses of the priesthood in 1 Chronicles 28:11-13,19 were set up by King David, by instructions from the Holy Spirit, before the temple was built by Solomon.

The 24 Courses or schedule divided the hundreds of priests and thousands of Levites into service groups to complete the daily, weekly, and annual festival maintenance and operation of the Temple and all it’s services.

The classes of Levites were: Priests (1Chronicles 24:1-19), Priests Assistants, (1 Chronicles 23:4,28), Singers (1 Chronicles 25:7-31), Musicians (1Chronicles 23:5), Gatekeepers (1 Chronicles 25:1-19),Keepers of the Treasury (1 Chronicles 26:20-28).

In addition there were officers and judges that assigned outside responsibilities. (1 Chronicles 26:20-28)

The priests and Levites were divided into 24 courses within their assigned class.

The length of each course was 7 days (1 Chronicles 9:25).  The week of service began and ended on the Sabbath (2Chronicles 23:8).  In addition, all the Priests served for 3 extra weeks during the year at feast times (Deuteronomy 16:16).  Each course of priests and Levites came on duty for a week at a time but did not necessarily serve every day but met every morning for a daily service lottery drawing for duties. The Levite families serving in a course could be as many as 9 but the singers only 1 (1 Chronicles 25:2-31).  Notice the size of the temple mount area compared to the tabernacle.  Try  to imagine all the varieties of work to be done, the training to be able to do each job, the time to learn each job and the numbers of participants to fulfill those duties.

Yehovah is a masterful designer and has minute details in every area of our lives  to be seen, heard, obeyed and attended to as He opens our minds and shows us how we can achieve every thing He has planned for us to as we grow toward our heritage as priests and kings in the Kingdom  of Heaven soon to be here on earth. (Jeremiah 29:11, 1 Corinthians 2:9, Isaiah 64:4,8.
